No. We believe that every Jewish child is entitled to a quality Jewish education. Our Hebrew School is open to the entire Tri Valley Jewish community. We are fully funded by the generosity of the local Jewish community and we encourage and appreciate our Hebrew School families contributing on an annual or monthly basis. However there are no set fees or membership requirements outside of school tuition and a security fee.
Yes. Our Hebrew School community is made up of a diverse group of families from all denominations and levels of observance. You may consider yourself orthodox, unaffiliated, conservative, liberal, or reform. At Chabad, we see you as Jewish. Ask around! You likely know families just like you who attend the Chabad Hebrew School.
Chabad Hebrew School will give your child the foundation, Hebrew literacy, desire, knowledge, ability, and excitement necessary to celebrate their Bar / Bat Mitzvah milestone. To prepare for the actual Bar / Bat Mitzvah ceremony, privately tailored lessons with the rabbi and rebbetzen can be arranged outside of Hebrew School.
Yes. We fully embrace and welcome every Jewish child and many of our students have non-Jewish fathers. No judgements are ever made and no one is ever made to feel different. By Jewish tradition, any child born to a Jewish mother is a full-fledged Jewish child and a full heir to the joys and beauty of our glorious heritage. Non-Jewish fathers are encouraged to fully engage in all Hebrew School family programming and are an integral part of their child’s Bar / Bat Mitzvah ceremonies and celebrations.
The Chabad Hebrew School is not a typical “school”. Judaism and Hebrew come to life in our walls. Our students are so engaged by their interactive lessons (filled with competitions, art, song, tech, and drama) that they almost forget they are learning.
Additionally, the memories, friendships, values, and Jewish foundations our students receive from their Hebrew School years literally do last a lifetime. So, while we understand that it takes an extra measure of dedication for your child (and for you) to add one more item to your weekly repertoire, the investment you make by sending our child to Hebrew School will pay dividends for decades.
